This Privacy Policy describes how NicheCoach ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares your personal information when you use our services. Our services include:

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

When you sign up and use NicheCoach, you provide:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and password
  • Business information — names, niches, descriptions, and other details about businesses you create in the app
  • Journal entries — text and structured data you record about your business activities, goals, trades, content, or other operations
  • Goals and tasks — items you create to track your progress
  • AI conversations — messages you send to the coach, including questions, context you share, and feedback you provide
  • Community posts — text content you post in the NicheCoach community, including discussions and replies. Note that community posts are visible to other NicheCoach users.
  • Payment information — when Pro launches, payment details (such as your card number) will be collected and stored directly by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store full payment card information ourselves. Stripe's privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy

Information we collect automatically

When you use NicheCoach, we automatically collect:

  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, actions taken, and timestamps
  • Device and log data — IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, and similar technical information
  • Cookies and similar technologies — used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and maintain security

We don't use third-party advertising trackers, and we don't sell or share data with advertisers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and maintain your account
  • Provide AI coaching, journal templates, goal tracking, and community features
  • Personalize your experience based on your business and history
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions when Pro launches
  • Send service-related communications (account notifications, security alerts, support replies)
  • Send marketing communications, which you can opt out of at any time
  • Investigate and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Improve our products and develop new features
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your business information, journal entries, or AI conversations to train AI models — ours or anyone else's. The AI providers we use process your messages but do not retain or train on them under our agreements with them.

3. Who We Share Information With

We share information only with the following service providers, and only as needed to operate NicheCoach:

  • Supabase — hosts our database and handles user authentication
  • Groq — provides AI inference for the coaching features
  • Perplexity — will provide AI-powered web search for Pro tier when launched
  • Stripe — will process payments when Pro launches; Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data

We have agreements with these providers requiring them to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.

We may also share information when required by law (court orders, subpoenas, regulatory requests) or in connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, sale of assets). If we transfer the business, we'll notify you and your data will continue to be governed by a privacy policy at least as protective as this one.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and maintain the security of your account. You can disable cookies in your browser, but parts of NicheCoach may not work properly if you do.

We do not use advertising cookies or trackers from third-party advertising networks.

5. AI-Powered Features

NicheCoach uses AI to power core features including the business coach, smart journals (Pro), and web search citations (Pro). These features are powered by third-party AI providers (Groq for coaching, Perplexity for web search).

When you use AI features:

  • Your messages and relevant context are sent to the AI provider for processing
  • The AI provider returns a response that we display in the app
  • Under our agreements with these providers, your data is not used to train AI models

You can disable AI features in your account settings if you prefer not to use them.

6. Community Posts

When you post in the NicheCoach community, your posts are visible to other NicheCoach users. Treat community posts as semi-public — don't share confidential business information you don't want other users to see.

We may moderate, edit, or remove community posts that violate our Terms of Service.

7. Data Retention

We keep your information as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your information within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

You can request deletion of your account and data at any time by emailing nichecoach.support@gmail.com.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, but we use encryption in transit, secure password storage, access controls, and regular security reviews. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your data, we'll notify you as required by law.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:

  • Access — request a copy of the information we have about you
  • Correction — fix inaccurate information
  • Deletion — delete your account and information
  • Portability — receive a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Opt-out — opt out of marketing communications

If you live in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may also have the right to withdraw consent, lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, or object to certain processing.

10. US State-Specific Rights

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia have specific rights under their state privacy laws, including the rights listed above. We don't sell personal information, so the "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" requirement does not apply, but we honor opt-out requests if you'd like to make one.

11. Children Under 18

NicheCoach is not intended for users under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, email nichecoach.support@gmail.com and we'll delete it.

12. International Data

We're based in the United States, and our servers are located here. If you use NicheCoach from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

13. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our service evolves or laws change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or through the app.
